WOMEN’S HEALTH GENERAL PRACTIONER

Specialist Women’s Health Care for Every Stage of Life
I have an immense passion for supporting women through their health journey and empowering them to make informed choices.
I have built my entire career on listening to women’s stories. I owe my knowledge and expertise to the generous women who have shared their experiences with me each day.
I love the science and art of reproductive health, the miracle of pregnancy and childbirth. However over many years I have developed a curiosity of how our health is different, not simply due to biological factors. Women’s health is not simply “bikini medicine” where the only focus is on breast and gynaecological issues.
When you spend enough time working with women at different stages of life you start to notice patterns. Things that present differently- such as cardiac disease, bone disease, autoimmune disease and mental health.
It is more than our physiology and hormones- but having an understanding of how we ARE hormonally and physiologically different has been a game changer for me as a practitioner, and a woman.
My approach to care is around my core values- empathy, integrity and excellence.
“I want women to feel seen and heard when they leave my consulting room. That I have addressed their concerns with compassion. I believe in working in partnership with the individual and I want them to feel that they have been able to form a plan for their concerns, based upon available evidence. The care is person centred.
I spend lots of time outside my consulting hours staying up to date with the latest research around Women’s health, I feel that this allows me to give an excellent service, based upon knowledge, experience and emerging data.”

Dr Lucy Ryan is a GP with a special interest in reproductive health, pregnancy care and perimenopause. She is passionate about the health of women. She would refer to herself as a human doctor. She is known for her comprehensive and compassionate approach to care. Lucy currently consults at JUNO Specialists, where she supports women through all stages of life.
Outside of work, Lucy is usually in a tracksuit, playing with a very active 5 year old or sitting around the dinner table with the husband and kids discussing important topics like who is top of the ladder in the Aussie rules, or what the current trends are in ear-rings for teenagers.
Her busy days start with a walk with Betty dog (who is also approaching middle age), in the dark early hours of a chilly Melbourne morning (usually listening to a medical podcast).
